Psychology provides a scientific basis for understanding other people and ourselves.

Psychology can be completed as a major within a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Arts, Psychology or Science.

Three year undergraduate courses in psychology are fully accredited by the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

On completion of an accredited fourth year in psychology, graduates may apply for associate membership of the APS and for registration as a probationary psychologist with the Psychologists Registration Board of Victoria.

Three years full-time at Hawthorn Campus, plus optional accredited fourth year.

About Psychology at Swinburne
Swinburne offers a broad range of subjects in the study of psychology, with a strong emphasis on practical skills and application.
Studies in psychology will enable you to acquire knowledge of psychological theories which improve your ability to explain human behaviour, whilst also providing extensive opportunities for application to real-life situations.
Courses
Psychology can be studied as a major within either a Bachelor of Arts or Social Science degree, or within any double degree program which incorporates one of these.
On completion of your Bachelor degree you may apply to join the Honours program. This usually involves one additional full-time year (or the equivalent part-time) of specialised academic studies.
There are also extensive postgraduate study options available in Psychology if you wish to pursue a career as a Professional Psychologist, or advance your knowledge for other professional career options.
