About Commercial Radio at Swinburne
Students receive one year of intensive tuition in all aspects of commercial radio operations, with practical training in announcing, news presentation and production. Other areas covered include voice training, copywriting, news writing, sales and marketing, promotions, music and programming, radio station management and computing skills. There is a strong focus on digital audio processing and control systems, using extensive computing facilities in studios and production areas.

The Graduate Diploma of Arts in Commercial Radio has been operating successfully since 1989, with more than 85% of graduates securing positions in Commercial Radio stations across Australia as announcers, journalists, creative writers, promotion assistants and sales executives.
The Graduate Diploma of Arts in Commercial Radio has the full support of the professional industry association, Commercial Radio Australia (CRA), and the industry is actively involved in lectures, seminars and workshops. Every assistance is provided to place graduates in the workforce. However, no guarantees of employment can be given, but the skills gained and the contacts made during the course should place participants in an excellent position to secure employment in the Commercial Radio industry. CRA offers every possible assistance with placement to graduates.
Industry Placement Program
An industry placement program places students into regional commercial radio stations for several weeks during the course. This placement is designed to allow participants to experience first-hand the environment and operating style of commercial radio, gain feedback on their skills and to make personal contacts within the industry.
