Using TV at Swinburne

Is there something on TV your students should see? Universities can record anything broadcast on TV as long as it is for educational purposes.

TVNews

TVNews allows online access to news, current affairs and documentaries such as Four Corners, Catalyst and Cutting Edge.

You can:

  • Add link to Blackboard (see linking info to allow students to view at home)
  • Show streamed video in class
  • Save to a memory stick and show in class
  • Email link to students (see linking info)

Search the library

The Library may already have what you are looking for.

Find thousands of DVDs and online videos by searching books, articles and more.

Library search includes TVNews content aprox. 1 week after broadcast.

Make a request for anything not in the Library or TVNews. If possible, we will make it available for you online (priority given to teaching or research).

For ideas on what can be ordered, browse RequestTV and EnhanceTV.

Turnaround times:

  • If available online, approx 1 week turnaround
  • If only on DVD, may take longer

Record it yourself

Swinburne's TV and Radio Licence allows staff to record anything from TV (including PayTV) and make it available as long as only Swinburne staff and students have access.

See required copyright notices for online recordings.
