Library services for students or staff who have a disability

Swinburne University of Technology is committed to providing a learning and working environment that is based on equality of opportunity for all. To that end, each of the five campus libraries continues to work to maximise the accessibility of resources and facilities. Information Resources has a Policy on Disability Support in the Library.

Library staff can organise services such as retrieval of items from shelves, arrangements for extended loan periods or computer access time, lift keys, assistance with catalogue searches or enlargement of photocopies.

Adaptive equipment is available at most of the campus libraries to enable better access to information resources for people with disabilities. Contact the Service Desk at your campus or phone 9214 8330 for details regarding location of equipment, booking arrangements, etc.

Library services available for students with disabilities include:

  • Accessible buildings and lifts
  • Photocopying services
  • Audioloops and inductive headphones
  • Accessible catalogues
  • Study rooms
  • Extended loan periods

There is a brochure with details of library services for people with a disability. You can pick up copies of this brochure from desks in the campus libraries.
