Photocopying, printing and scanning facilities are available in each campus library
- black & white and colour printing
- black & white photocopying
- colour photocopying (Hawthorn & Lilydale only)
- printing from microfilm and microfiche (Hawthorn only)
- overhead transparency photocopying
- document scanning
Instructions for use
Follow the instructions beside the photocopiers, printers and scanners. Ask at the Service Desk if you need assistance.
You must abide by the relevant provisions of the Copyright Act as displayed near the photocopiers, printers and scanners.
Copy Card payment system
Payment is by an online debit system that uses a rechargeable plastic card.
Purchase your Copy Card from the vending machine (Autoloader) in the library. You need to buy a card only once, then you can add credit to it as you need it. You can use the same card at any of the Swinburne campus libraries.
You need $2.00 in coins to purchase a card. At Croydon, Prahran and Wantirna you need a $2.00 coin, at Hawthorn and Lilydale you can use a combination of coins of any value. Cards are currently issued with a usable credit of $0.77.
To add more credit to your card you can use any coin value. Autoloaders at Hawthorn, Prahran and Lilydale also accept notes. The autoloaders do not give change.
Visitors to the library who are not Swinburne students or staff, and who wish to copy or print only a few pages, may borrow a Visitors Copy Card from the Service Desk. It is issued without any credit value and the visitor then adds the amount required for their copies/prints through the autoloader.

Use your Copy Card to also purchase items, pay for library fines
and to pay for copies of periodical articles.
Change and EFTPOS
The autoloaders do not give change. Change is available from the
Service desk at all campus libraries.
EFTPOS is available at all campus libraries. It can be used to add credit to your Copy Card, purchase discs and other items, and pay library fines and charges. No cash is available from EFTPOS transactions.
