Strategic Links

IRIS has recognised the importance of business globalisation and has placed growing emphasis on international networking in research and technology diffusion. It has proactively responded to global manufacturing challenges by establishing strategic links with partner research organisations around the world. This has taken the form of active participation in international applied research and innovation development programs such as the Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, Targeted Institutional Links, and Bilateral Science and Collaboration involving European Union countries, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, China and the USA.

IRIS has also embraced new forms of international cooperation and has pursued local presence and establishment of alliances with overseas institutions offering complementary technologies and expertise that provide higher added value services to world class industries. To maximise our competence, IRIS has developed activities to deal with world-wide business cultures mainly due to the multicultural background of our research scientists and engineers. IRIS’ international strategy has laid the foundation on which long lasting successful business relations are built on trust. Internationally networked applied research allows all parties to grow, and enhances export potential. International acceptance of IRIS’ high quality services provides for the positive overseas advertising of other industry collaborators, intensifies world wide technical and industrial networking, and promotes Australia as a country for high-tech business investments.

In order to complete a full range of services for globally operating customers, IRIS has established a strong partnership with Germany’s Fraunhofer Gesellschaft. This has resulted in joint industry problem analysis and fine tuning of project specifications which, in many cases where enhanced customer benefits are to be achieved, can be performed properly only through teamwork.
