About Us

Established in August 2010, Industry Engaged Learning (IEL) supports, advocates and oversees all of the university's Work Integrated Learning opportunities. We work closely with faculties, organisations and students to develop a range of programs- from final year projects to placements and internships- that give theoretical education, an applied component grounded in the real work environment. |
Professor Michael Clements, Australia’s first University Professor of Industry Engaged Learning, leads the team, ensuring the office’s place of global leadership at the forefront of theory and best practice in work integrated learning. The benefits for students are significant. Our work integrated learning programs allow students to graduate with a competitive edge, work experience, work-ready skills, and professional work attitudes. This means that our students graduate ready to make a difference and ready to take on the challenges of the work environment . At the same time, the benefits for industry and the community at large are many, as IEL provides access to talented and dedicated students who can assist in finding novel and unique solutions to workplace or organisational challenges. Furthermore, the variety of opportunities available and the ability to custom-design programs make IEL accessible to all types of organisations- from small non-profit bodies to large multinational enterprises. |
