WICT Lunch (14th May, 2009): Guest Speaker Lunch
WICT group invited Katerina Andronis, a Director of Information Management at Peter Mac Callum Cancer Centre to give a guest talk at the round-off WICT event organised this semester.
About the Speaker:
Katerina Andronis has more than thirty years experience in Australia health care. She has been Information Systems Manager/CIO for a number of private hospitals and groups, and recently managed the transition of fifty hospitals into Ramsay Healthcare. As a consultant, Katerina has conducted extensive reviews of business and clinical process in the public and private sectors, with the emphasis on making sure clinical and IT people completely understand one another. As a manager she insists on openness, a sense of purpose, and a work environment that combines enjoyment with achievement.
Katerina gave us a talk on the role of ICT in the health sector and how the health sector embraces technology, what are the issues, joys, success and road blocks of this Information Technology Age. She also shared her personal experience on how she went into this field and what are the challenges of a female working in a predominately male area and the advantages we have over our male counterparts.
Katerina was a terrific speaker, no doubt she enjoys working with her male counterparts, and amazignly is a huge fan of "Star Trek".
