The UNIFEM Australia Young Women's Leadership Forum aims to improve the capacity of young women by providing them with opportunities to learn about and become involved in women's issues on a local, national and global scale. Digital Divas: Celebration at Brentwood
The pilot education project called "Digital Divas" that was initiated at Brentwood Secondary College, has been declared as a great success. In December 2008, Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier Luke Donnellan joined the girls-only computer club to celebrate such a tremendous success.

PhD scholarship opportunity with Monash University
An Australian Research Council (ARC)-funded PhD scholarship is now available in a new project at Monash University titled "Digital Divas: Designing approaches to enthuse girls' interest in ICT studies and ICT careers". The prospect PhD student will be under the supervision of Assoc Prof. Helen Forgasz (Monash University) and Dr. Catherine Lang (Swinburne University).

Recently we came across the article written in the Herald Sun at the "Learn" section (Tuesday, October 14, p. 59) about the Digital Divas IT-inspired club initiative. It was the idea of our University's saying that IT careers are also fancy and stylish to go for. The Swinburne WICT group has been also mentioned in the article.

Vic IT Dinner with Women in ICT:
This was an exciting event for women in ICT, organised by VicIT. Dynamic speakers such Caroline Patton (Accuteque) and Jackie Korhonen (CEO, Infosys Australia), a comedian Claire Hooper, they all entertained and engaged with the audience. Appraisal and awards have been awarded to some women who made a significant contribution to supporting women in ICT.

WICT Off-Semester Lunch: Guest Speaker
Katerina Andronis is a Director of Information Management at Peter Mac Callum Cancer Centre, of one of highly IT equipped medical organisations across Australia. During the lunch, Katerina talked about the role of ICT in the health sector and shared her personal working experience.

'Meet the Dean' Welcome Lunch (Semester 1, 2009). WICT group organised the welcome lunch early this semester. The Dean of the Faculty together with the WICT group personally welcomed all new students.

'Women's Day Celebration' on 5th March 2009.
Victorian ICT for Women and ACS organised a networking breakfast to celebrate 'International Women's Day' this year. Marilyn Ross, Sergeant at Multimedia, Victoria Police, was one of the keynote speakers.
WICT lunch with Carla Romero. Carla Romero is a Director of Programs at Computing Research Association, of one of the USA´s leading organisations working in this arena. During the lunch, Carla talked about the strategies of attracting more students, particularly girls, into ICT courses.
