Clinical Coordination System Project
Overview
The purpose of Clinical Co-ordination System is to manage the student clinical allocations for the nursing department of the Australian Catholic University (ACU). The paper-based system currently employed to manage this task is ineffective. This project’s overall goal is to improve this task by developing a product that is more effective, efficient and easier to use then the current system.

Scope
The Coordination System will be delivered as a Java application that will be installed on client machines. This will connect to a database which may reside on a server hosted by the client. Also as part of the final product, user and administration training and manuals will be delivered. The process of installation of the software on the client hardware is within the scope of this project. The functionality of the final product will encompass the ability to:
- Add new records (students, placements etc.)
- Add, modify, delete and search for records
- Generate reports in a printable format
- Generate logs of user activity
- Archive records no longer required
Data stored and manipulated by the final product will be:
- Student details
- User details and privileges
- Placement details
- Course details
- Unit details
- Agency details
Once the final application has been installed at the client location and signed off by the client, the client will be responsible for the maintenance of the product. All ongoing maintenance of the software is outside of the scope of the product
