Programming Help Desk
The Programming Help Desk supports mainly 1st & 2nd year students who have programming problems such as:
- Understanding tutorial/lab questions
- Approaches to design solutions for assignments
- Debugging of code
Programming Help Desk is useful for a range of students including:
- Raw beginners who are stuck on a problem. Do not be embarrassed about how trivial your problem is.
- More competent programmers who need help with a new concept
However, Programming Help Desk is not a replacement for attendance at tutorials / labs. Programming Help Desk staff are not employed to provide answers or write solutions to assignments. Rather, staff try to assist students by pointing them in the right direction. or making some suggestions.
Programming Help Desk staff have a good mix of experience with a number of different programming languages.
Currently Programming Help Desk is located in ATC620. (it is part of an open-access lab). Introduce yourself to one of the staff and let them know that you need some assistance.
Three PCs have been allocated so that multiple students can load their code etc at the one time. No appointments are necessary. Students are dealt with on a "first come first served" basis.
Help Desk Hours - Semester 2, Weeks 4 - 12
The HelpDesk will be open from the start of Week 3 till the end of Week 12 - but not during the mid break and not during consultation week.
