The Centre is emerging as one of the fastest growing and most concentrated IT research centres in Australia . Striving to be a world-class Centre of Excellence, CITR endeavours to attract the best and brightest minds to create a vibrant and rewarding research environment. The Centre has close collaboration links with leading industry and research partners nationally and internationally.

 

Staff

The Centre has recently been awarded "Tier 1" status along with 6 other premier research centres at the University. This significant recognition of research excellence of the Centre has enabled the creation of several new research positions. Applications for positions at academic levels B (Lecturer) and C (Senior Lecturer) are open until 9 October 2006.

Australian and international applications are welcome. The successful candidates will be assisted in obtaining work permits in Australia.

Postdoctoral Positions

The Centre often offers both the internally and externally funded postdoctoral positions.

Currently there are 3 vacant research positions in the area of software and systems engineering in the Centre. Senior Research Fellow (application open until September 22, 2006), Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Fellow and Research Engineer/Assistant (applications open until October 6, 2006). All positions are for 3 years fixed-term, full-time.

Postgraduate Students

The Centre has a policy of accepting students of the highest academic quality from Australia and overseas. All of our PhD students are well-supported in terms of both finances and facilities. Each student receives their own workstation, a financial supplement to their scholarship, and funds to support their research. Students are encouraged to attend international conferences and to work with overseas collaborators.

PhD Scholarships for Australian and International Candidates

A number of PhD scholarships are offered each year to the best candidates in the research areas of the Centre. The current mid-year applications round close on 23 May 2008, and end-of-the year applications round close on 31 October 2008 (TBC).

arrowEvidence of formal research experience if applicable (e.g. degree by research, research projects, publications)

arrowEvidence of English proficiency (native English speaker, previous studies in English in certain cases, or IELTS of 6.5 with no band below 6)

Summer Student Scholarships

Each year we offer a number of placements within the Centre to outstanding undergraduate applicants. The students work alongside the Centre's research staff on their own research project, as well as being introduced to the breadth of Centre activities. Depending on the project, students get the chance to experience the internal and external collaborative research projects with industry and research partners.
