Professional Employment Program

A program to maximise your ICT career potential


The Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies is offering the Professional Employment Program as an exciting new career development program developed for ICT postgraduate international students. The program will run Mon 30th Nov - Thurs 03 Dec 2009, 9:30 to 3:30 PM.

The Swinburne based program aims to improve career outcomes by outlining the Australian ICT industry and identifying a sequenced approach to the development of employment skills, tactics and trends that will assist you with your future career management in the ICT industry.
An information session will run on Tuesday 13 October 2009 - Room EN103, 12:30 - 1:30.

What does the program offer?

  • Improve your career outcomes
  • Understand the job-hunting steps in the Australian ICT market including; resume and cover letter writing, networking and interviews
  • Visit a blue chip ICT organisation
  • Hear key speakers from the ICT industry discuss tactics and give tips for successful job hunting
  • Mock interviews will be held covering questions most frequently asked by ICT employers
  • Understand and improve on the skills sought by employers
  • Identify the methodologies and stages to being recruited to an organisation


Program structure

  • Classes will be run full time over 4 days, 9.30 - 3.30PM
  • The mode of provision to be adopted is mainly class attendance with some online provision
  • The teaching approach adopted will be highly interactive.  Students will be involved in activities such as: interviews, testing, group activities , peer evaluation

When will the program run?

  • Date: Mon 30th Nov - Thurs 03rd Dec 2009,
    9:30 to 3:30 PM
  • Sessions will run at Swinburne, Hawthorn Campus
  • Session fee is $30 per student, subsidised by the Faculty of ICT

Note: The Professional Employment Program is a prerequisite for postgraduate students wanting to undertake the Internship Project (HIT9326) running in Semester 1, 2010.
