About the Programs
Bachelor of Science (Information Technology)
The program is designed for international students and builds on the knowledge and skills gained in their prior studies overseas. It focuses on software development using C++ and Java, software engineering and multimedia software development for the Internet.
The BSc(IT) program consists of 10 units (120 credit points) that are studied over 2 semesters including a summer or winter semester. Customised programs of study are designed to complement and your previous studies.

Master of Information Technology
The Master of Information Technology (MIT) provides an opportunity for participants to undertake an in-depth study of some of today's most exciting IT developments. Students may choose to undertake specialisation programs in Reliable Software Systems, Network Design and Security, Information Systems and Management, Web Application Development, or alternatively choose a broader range of units.
In the MIT students recieve 8 unit exemptions and may then choose 8 units (100 credit points) to complete the program over 1 year. Units in the program include:

Specialisation
MIT Specialisations
It is possible to select a broad MIT program, or to choose from a range of specialisations. To qualify for a specialisation, students must complete at least 75 Credit Points from a set of nominated subjects.
Network Design and Security
The Network Design and Security specialisation focuses on the skills
required for graduates preparing to work as network systems
specialists. Subjects provide coverage of general networking principles
with specific competencies including certification material from Cisco
CCNA, CCNP and Microsoft MCSE.
Information Systems and Management
The Information Systems specialisation offers a course of study focusing on the knowledge and skills needed by information systems analysts, designers and developers. It includes advanced topics in system and information modelling, database design and component technology. The Unified Modelling Language (UML) is emphasised in the specialisation and students use industrial strength products such as Oracle and Microsoft .NET development tools.
Web Application Development
Web applications powered by embeded web servers have become common place in organisations. This specialisation deals with emerging technologies such as Service Oriented Architectures, Web Services and Enterprise Computing, including J2EE and .NET.
Entrance Requirements
Academic
Entry into the 2 year BSc(IT) and MIT programs requires completion of two years of study in a recognised IT Bachelor degree or equivalent.
English
IELTS (Academic Module) – an overall band score of 6.0, in the academic test, with no individual band score below 6.0
Application and Fees
BSc (IT) 2009 annual course fee: 18 750.00
MIT 2009 annual course fee: 19 250.00
Students who complete the BSc(IT) program and progress immediately on to the MIT are eligible for a 15% discount on MIT fees.
Total BSc(IT) and MIT course fee (with discount): $35,112.
Commencement Date
Students may commence studies in February or August. Students are advised to arrive in Melbourne at least two weeks prior to the commencement of their course.
Professional Recognition
Programs are accredited by the register of Australian Tertiary Awards (ATA) and the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). Programs are also registered with the Australian Computer Society (ACS) at the highest level (Professional Level).
