Course Description

The Master of Information Systems Management/Master of Professional Accounting double degree provides advanced skills and knowledge across the complex areas of both accounting and information systems through a program that satisfies the individual requirements of each degree. On completion of the MISM/MAcc students are awarded two degrees, the MISM, and the MAcc.

Students will gain business acumen and a solid understanding of the role of the information systems supporting core business processes. The program places emphasis on critical thinking in relation to accounting and finance issues within a business IS environment and ensures that graduates understand how to use financial and other resources to their best advantage, particularly in the context of making informed decisions about IS investments.


Aims and Objectives

  • Develop the capacity to effectively manage and implement complex information systems, information technologies and solutions both within and between organisations for competitive advantage
  • Develop analytical and problem solving skills necessary when dealing with accounting and finance issues within planning and decision making
  • Meet the standards of business and industry to achieve and sustain international competitive advantage
  • Provide understanding of the role of IS, and its relationship to the sound financial management of an organisation

Entrance Requirements

MISM/MAcc requires at least two years relevant professional experience and completion of an undergraduate degree at a credit level from a recognised university.

Students who have a degree which includes some information technology subjects may be eligible for 2 exemptions and undertake 18 subjects. Students who have a IS degree or a Graduate Diploma in Information Systems may be eligible for 4 exemptions and undertake 16 subjects.

Current students in the MISM or MAcc may transfer into the MISM/MAcc double degree subject to the requirements of the double degree as set out above.


Program Structure

The course is a 2 year 200 Credit Point program including two subjects studied over a summer semester.

Up to four subjects will generally be taken each semester and two subjects will be taken in a summer semester.
Entry is possible in both Semester 1 (Feb) and Semester 2 (July).
