The Foundation grew out of a bilateral agreement between Swinburne University of Technology Melbourne Australia and The Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa Israel. The AISEF Board of Trustees has six members, three representing Swinburne University of Technology and three representing The Technion.
