2010 VISION STATEMENT

Swinburne will be recognized for its flexible approaches to learning and teaching which will create an engaging, stimulating and modern environment in which students can learn in different ways and in different places to achieve their desired outcomes. To achieve the vision of the Swinburne learning experience as providing “Education that Works”, Swinburne curriculum design and delivery is focused on:

  • Real World Learning
    Where an experiential approach to learning is set in an international context informed by educational scholarship, industry input and research expertise, equipping graduates for mainstream and entrepreneurial career paths as independent, lifelong learners with an understanding of social and environmental contexts; and

  • Student Centred Learning
    Providing orientation and transition support to incoming students from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures, offering flexibility and choice plus opportunities for accelerated and intersectoral study, and an emphasis on providing professional outcomes and career skills within a quality-assured teaching framework which includes a comprehensive mix of face-to-face and online resources and support.
