Paula has been combining her passion for teaching with leadership roles in Learning and Teaching for several years now. Paula has convened and delivered a broad suite of units to Swinburne cohorts based on our Hawthorn campus, including Young people in Global Context; Social Theory; Sociological Foundations; and Internship in Social Research. She has also convened and delivered units offshore and as part of Swinburne’s mobility strategy – delivering our Counselling Research Processes unit in the Singaporean-based Graduate Diploma of Social Science (Professional Counselling) and leading highly successful study tours to Nepal and Malaysia.
Paula has held significant Learning and Teaching roles at both Faculty and School levels beginning with being appointed Faculty Education Development Coordinator (EDC) in the Faculty of Life and Social Sciences in 2011; Academic Director, Learning Innovation and Quality (ADLIQ) in the School of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities in 2014; and most recently Acting in the Associate Dean, Learning Innovation (ADLI) role for the Faculty of Health, Arts and Design for 7 months during 2016. Paula has received 4 awards in recognition of significant and sustained leadership in learning and teaching.
Paula’s research interests concern the intersections of ‘youth’, ‘place’ and ‘identity’. She has supervised Honours and PhD students across a broad suite of topics.
