Swinburne Aviation will be hosting an exclusive “behind the scenes” field trip for career advisors to find out more about the Air Transportation Industry. These field trips include:
- A visit to Melbourne airport to discover what has been done to prepare for the expansion of the airport, what is the lifeblood of an airport and how well prepared is an airport for emergencies;
- A visit to Melbourne Flight crew base of Virgin Blue to discover how an airline manages its fleet of aircraft, how they determine the schedule of operations, how they organise crews and what happens when something goes wrong;
- Visit to Qantas Simulator Centre at Essendon for a comprehensive briefing on Pilot Flight training and flying careers
- Visit to Oxford Aviation Academy at Moorabbin Airport to see first-hand how young pilots receive their flight training in modern training aircraft. We will also discover the workings of an aircraft maintenance facility and hear from current Engineering and Aviation students.
Attendees will be travelling in a registered bus, hired for the occasion with an appropriately licensed driver.

- Who Can Attend:
- Year 10, 11 and 12 students with an interest in a flying career or a career in the management operations of airlines and airports. We strongly encourage a Careers Advisor or Teacher to accompany the students as we have set aside 2 student places and 1 teacher place per school.
