Swinburne ConocoPhillips Science Experience
|Date:||5 - 7 December 2017|
|Time:||8.30am – 4pm each day|
|Venue:||AGSE207, AGSE Building, Hawthorn Campus|
Year 9 and 10 students are invited to join us at Swinburne for the 2017 ConocoPhillips Science Experience!
We're excited to offer a program that will encourage natural curiosity and explore the never-ending possibilities of science.
With a focus on industry and real-world applications, you will meet leaders from the scientific community, work with innovative technologies in our specialised labs and facilities, watch out-of-this-world science demonstrations and participate in hands-on workshops that will challenge and excite.
Some of the exciting workshops you will take part in include:
Build an Electronic Die
Students will construct a small electronic die in a practical exercise involving soldering and testing of the final product. Students will keep the circuit constructed and be able to amaze their fellow students with their construction skills or improve their knowledge of probability.
In this hands on workshop students will learn all about drones at work including, drone flying skills, the basics and coding for drones.
DNA: Fingerprinting and typing
The workshop introduces students to one of the most important applications of DNA technology – DNA fingerprinting. Students will learn how information from our DNA can be used in forensics and use some of the standard laboratory equipment involved.
Join us for our action-packed December program and see where a career in science can take you.
Rotary scholarships are available. Contact the Science Experience or your local Rotary club for details.
