Swinburne has built a new $4 million supercomputer based on the latest Dell server technology, incorporating recent exciting advances in both traditional Intel CPU and highly-parallel NVIDIA graphics processing unit (GPU) components. This national facility cements our position as a leader in academic supercomputing and more than triples the high-performance computing capacity at Swinburne – pushing us firmly into the petascale era.
OzSTAR is available to students, scientists and researchers at Swinburne, as well as the Australian astrophysics community as a whole to achieve their research goals. It will also underpin the computational efforts of the OzGrav Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery.
