The Mobile Innovation Network Australasia (MINA) is running a workshop for creatives, community groups, organisations and anyone with a smartphone interested in learning about mobile filmmaking.

Over two days we will explore how you can use apps like Filmic Pro, Luma Touch and Instagram to tell interesting stories through editing, sound and creative filming on any smartphone or pocket camera.

See the gear filmmakers use for short and feature films and learn about the creative processes used to create story narratives, experimental films and documentaries.

This workshop is run by award-winning filmmakers:

Adrian, Tania, Corinne, Patrick, Marsha, Dean and Max will provide an overview of the many styles and techniques used to create films using smartphones. They will explore the ideas, scripting, shooting and editing processes to enable you to produce your own film; whether it’s a promotional video, experimental film or the next viral hit.

Schedule

The first workshop day will provide participants with a general introduction of the basic concepts of mobile filmmaking. We will cover storytelling processes and composition, discuss smartphone and experiemental films, their technology, processes and platforms and the use of social media.

The second day will cover podcasting and edting apps and finish with a mentoring session where we will develop an outline suited to your skills and interest.
