Australia + New Zealand University Mental Health Day: Hawthorn
|Date:||Tuesday 1 May 2018|
|Time:||11.30am – 1.30pm|
|Venue:||Under the sail – outside the George building, the Atrium and Wakefield gardens on Hawthorn Campus|
University Mental Health Day aims to raise awareness of the mental health and well-being needs of those who study and work in higher education settings.
This year’s theme is “CommUNIty”, which is a great opportunity to celebrate many aspects of the Swinburne community and encourage students and staff to be active in supporting mental health.
This University Mental Health Day, we want to promote a sense of belonging in the university community by decreasing stigmatizing attitudes and tackling loneliness, and raising mental health literacy so that students and staff have the confidence to seek support if they feel they need it, know where to turn, and have accessible opportunities to build their wellbeing.
Join us as we connect as a community to prioritize student and staff mental health during a lunchtime BBQ on the Hawthorn campus.
- A range of organisations and support services will be in attendance to discuss important issues around mental health, and there will be opportunities to connect with the arts, sports and recreation, indigenous cultural, environment and sustainability, nutrition, LGBTI and volunteering.
- There will be activities including a charity book swap run by the Student Representative Council, adult colouring workshops held by the Student Union and an Exhibition of our design students’ artwork that focuses on mental health.
- Mindful and healthy refreshments will be provided in an inviting environment where people can relax, communicate, discover and belong.
