Green Impact Program
As a part of Swinburne’s commitment to sustainability, we will be participating in the Green Impact Program.
The program encourages and enables staff and students to undertake practical actions that will help to drive a culture of sustainable practices. Developed in the UK by the National Union of Students, Green Impact has been implemented by over 400 organisations worldwide.
In the Green impact program you will gain the knowledge, skills and capabilities to tackle sustainability issues such as carbon reduction, water efficiency and waste management. An online toolkit of sustainability actions will guide you in making positive behavioural change for the environment, and let you compete with other teams in the program.
Once teams achieve a certain number of actions they are rewarded with either Bronze, Silver or Gold accreditation.
How to get involved
Taking part is as easy as forming a team. Students are encouraged to participate so they can tackle sustainability issues, compete with other teams and get recognised for their achievements.
Green impact offer a full suite of support tools and resources, so be assured we’re all in this together.
Green Impact will then provide teams with a customised workbook of sustainability actions. Teams are then also given a structured framework for taking actions, from things as simple as printing double sided to things as big as setting up workplace kitchen gardens.
Become a Student Auditor
Green Impact Student Auditors conduct evaluations of the sustainability actions achieved by Green Impact teams.
To become an auditor, you must attend a 3-hour training session and audit a minimum of one Green impact team.
