Research Topic
Timber Pole Integrity Testing
Synopsis
Timber utility poles represent a significant component of Australia's infrastructure. There are approximately 5 million timber utility poles in Australia. The aim of this project is to develop a simple methodology to assess the structural performance of existing poles. The proposed assessment method is based on non-destructive vibration testing tool. The outcomes from this research would allow asset owners to employ more efficient maintenance and replacement programs and also improve safety for linemen.
