Brief Biography
Weixiang received his BEng., MEng. and PhD degrees all from Electrical Engineering. He worked in several universities as Lecturer, Associate Professor and Research Fellow in China, German, Singapore and Malaysia. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Sciences at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia.
Weixiang's research interests are battery modelling and charging technology for electric vehicles, battery energy management system, simulation and optimization for both electric vehicles and renewable energy systems as well as efficient energy conversion technology, the distributed energy generation and micro-grid, solar photovoltaic system technology, power electronics in non-conventional systems. In these areas, he has published more than 50 papers in referred journals and conference proceedings. In addition, he has actively sought research fund from various organizations and has been a principal investigators and co-investigators of many national, industrial and university sponsored projects for solar photovoltaic system technology and electric vehicle technology in China, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. Since 2002, Weixiang has been served as the reviewer of IEEE Transaction on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Transaction on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transaction on Power Electronics, Electrochimica Acta and Journal of Applied Electrochemistry, etc. He was also invited as a secession chair and a track chair for several international conferences.

The applicant must have a PhD or equivalent with significant research/industry experience (4–10 years) in an appropriate discipline, preferably in electrical engineering.Experience in electric motor control, power electronics, embedded control and battery energy management system will be a distinct advantage. A deep understanding of electric vehicles and a strong interest in electric vehicle applications are desirable.
