Visit by the Indian Minister of Civil Aviation

Swinburne and General Flying Services had the pleasure of hosting a visit by The Honourable Praful Patel, the Minister for Civil Aviation in the Government of India, on the 24th May.

The visit was coordinated by the Australian Government, Department of PM and Cabinet and provided the opportunity for Minister Patel to inspect Australia's Aviation training infrastructure.

Accompanied by his Private Secretary, the Indian Consul General to Victoria Ms. Anita Nayar, as well as Mr. Peter Linford, Senior Trade Commissioner designate to India, Minister Patel met the Vice-Chancellor Prof Ian Young and Stephen Fankhauser (FEIS Aviation Course Coordinator) and Ken Barnes at General Flying Services at Moorabbin Airport. General Flying Services (GFS) partners with Swinburne in the provision of all the flying training in the aviation courses.

Minister Patel provided an insight into the future aviation training needs for India and the strategic initiatives the Indian Government is taking to address these.
