Team Swinburne in Australian Motorsport News
Thursday, July 1, 2010

In a publicity coup for Swinburne’s Formula SAE team, the group is featured in the July edition of ‘The Australian Motorsport News’.
Â
Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) is an international student engineering competition in which teams design and build a formula race car, before competing against other university teams. The activity is a demanding final year project for students. Not only are they required to apply their technical skills to build the car, but they also need to operate in the business world and develop a marketing plan to obtain sponsorship that will fund the project.
Â
The four-page Australian Motorsport News article describes the process undertaken by Team Swinburne to design the car, and the roles of team members in its development. Journalist Andrew Van Leeuwen also writes about driving the car, which he describes at “nimble, light and a whole lot of funâ€. This sentiment is echoed by Tim Blanchard who is the current Team Swinburne driver, a V8 Supercar development series driver and former Australian Formula Ford Champion.
