Swinburne named in top 500 universities worldwide

The world rankings set out to give an up-to-date and rounded assessment of the world's leading universities and - at a time of unprecedented mobility in international education - are seen with increasing importance by students and academics alike.

Vice-Chancellor Ian Young says Swinburne's ranking is a considerable achievement, particularly for a relatively small institution among an estimated 8000 universities worldwide.

"[It] reflects Swinburne's growing international reputation as we move towards achieving our 2015 Vision," he says. "It is gratifying to see that our efforts to ensure excellence in all that we do and to strengthen Swinburne in bringing growing international recognition."

The rankings are determined by academic peer review, employer survey, student faculty ratio, research performance and the proportion of each institutions international faculty and international student numbers.
