IRIS researcher wins DMTC award for research excellence

Mr Tim Barry, a researcher with the Industrial Research Institute Swinburne (IRIS) has received a research excellence award under the category of exceptional contribution of early career engineers and scientists to Defence Materials Technology Centre (DMTC) projects.
This award was made at the DMTC Technical conference held in Melbourne on Feb 11th 2011.
The project, Rapid and Reliable Detection and Analysis of Composite Defects is being lead by Dr Viktor Verijenko of the DMTC. Tim is working in the Robotics and Non-Contact Inspection team under the guidance of Professor Romesh Nagarajah and in conjunction with technical staff from Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) and engineers from GKN Aerospace.
This work has been highly commended by the industry partner GKN Aerospace and involves cutting edge applied research combining ultrasonic sensor technology and artificial intelligence based signal analysis.
