Bangladeshi students in Swinburne Celebrated Bangladesh Day on 22nd January 2010 in a colourful festive mood for the first time in Swinburne University.
The days festivities started at 6:30 pm in the Atrium of the Swinburne University, Hawthorn campus, with a brief and informative presentation on the history, independence and 38 years of glorious achievement of Bangladesh followed by speech's from the Vice Chancellor of Swinburne University and the High commissioner of the people’s republic of Bangladesh.
Vice Chancellor of Swinburne University, Professor Ian Young commented in his speech that “Bangladeshi student group in Swinburne has been tremendously successful in their studies and in advancing the research mission of this University.”
The High commissioner of Bangladesh, Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Chowdhury said that he was surprised to see such a big event and spell binding performance by the Bangladeshi students and researchers attending Swinburne.
Following the formal opening ceremony, a spectacular cultural program entertained hundreds of crowds in the Atrium. This program highlighted the Bangladeshi culture and gave the audience a great opportunity to be familiar with the rich Bangladeshi cultural heritage.
The festivities concluded with a grand dinner party in EN612.
