EVs can offer emission-free urban transportation with the utilization of various kinds of renewable energies. EVs have the potential to have a positive impact on energy, environment and transportation, as well as in promoting new hi-tech industry and economic development.
EV is a multidisciplinary subject which covers broad and complex aspects - involving Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Robotics and Mechatronics and Chemical engineering.
Supported by AutoCRC, Swinburne University of Technology has established a multidisciplinary research group, working on the following aspects of EV technologies,
- control systems,
- energy management,
- battery charging and
- in-wheel motor design.
