Nanotrapping and Super-resolution (NAS

The Centre for Micro-Photonics has individual research groups each working and collaborating on different aspects of nano- and bio-photonics. The Nanotrapping and Super-resolution group, led by Associate Professor Xiaosong gan aims to investigate superresolution for nanophotonics applications as well as develop novel optical trapping approaches.

All labs are located at the Swinburne University Hawthorn Campus.

Optical Trapping
Non-contact optical probing and manipulation of nano/micro objects by laser irradiation presents many significant advantages over many conventional micro-manipulation techniques. This project envelops novel optical trapping probes for optical imaging, sensing and manipulation, particularly in the near-field region.
