A new publication in Nature Photonics reveals the CMP researchers work on photonic crystal.

By geting inspiration from the Green Hairstreak butterfly's wings, the CMP researchers have created a tiny photonic crystal that can split both left and right circularly polarised light.

The Green Hairstreak butterfly's wings contain an immense array of nano-scale coiled springs that form a unique optical material and cause the intense green colour of the butterfly.

Congratulation to authors of the paper for their achievement.
