Victoria-Suntech Advanced Solar Facility

The Centre for Micro-Photonics has just been awarded $3 million under the Victoria Science Agenda Investment Fund to establish the Victoria-Suntech Advanced Solar Facility (VSASF). The VSASF is a collaborative R&D facility between the Centre for Micro-Photonics and Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd, the world’s largest manufacturer of silicon photovoltaic modules.

Research in the VSASF will focus on developing the next generation in solar technology based on nanoplasmonic solar cells with the aim of dramatically increasing the efficiency of current photovoltaic cells.
