Quantum Information Processing with Trapped Ions

Dr Murray Barrett

University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand

3.30pm, Thursday 24 June 2004, AR103 Seminar Room, Graduate Research Centre

Progress in quantum information processing with trapped ions will be discussed. During my time at NIST, Boulder a rudimentary multiplexed ion trap was constructed which greatly facilitated a number of key experiments carried out over the past 6 months; entanglement enhanced detection, entanglement distribution, spectroscopy with GHZ states, quantum dense coding, and quantum teleportation. Results and details of these experiments will be discussed.
