Ultra-cold neutral atoms and Bose-Einstein condensates offer fascinating possibilities for building new
quantum devices. Atom interferometry and quantum computing are two areas currently receiving much attention. In this talk I will
describe atom chip experiments performed at the University of Sussex which represent first steps towards achieving such devices.
