Atom optics in magnetic microtraps

Dr Chris Vale

Sussex Centre for Optical and Atomic Physics, Unversity of Sussex, Brighton, UK (now at University of Queensland)

11.30am, Tuesday 11 March 2003, AR103 Seminar Room, Graduate Research Centre

Ultra-cold neutral atoms and Bose-Einstein condensates offer fascinating possibilities for building new quantum devices. Atom interferometry and quantum computing are two areas currently receiving much attention. In this talk I will describe atom chip experiments performed at the University of Sussex which represent first steps towards achieving such devices.
