My research focuses on developing and utilising novel techniques in ultrafast
spectroscopy to resolve dynamics on femtosecond timescales and understand fundamental quantum processes in complex condensed phase systems. Current studies include:
- Resolving the mechanisms of the initial energy transfer processes occurring in the light-harvesting complexes responsible for photosynthesis.
- Resolving the dynamics in semiconductor nanostructures as a means of determining their suitability for optoelectronic applications.
- Studying coherent phonon mediated coupling between spatially and spectrally separated quantum wells.
- Developing phase retrieval techniques as a means of performing two-colour multidimensional spectroscopy to identify and detail coherent coupling in complex samples.
