The Centre's facilities support a multidisciplinary team committed to developing assistive products and technologies to allow independent living and improve safety and quality of life.
Overview
By 2044-45, one quarter of Australians will be aged 65 years or more, roughly double the present proportion. To ensure the best possible quality of life and contain health costs it is vital to support the elderly to enjoy safe independence in their homes and to assist their carers
Research
This centre focuses on the research and development of assistive products and technologies to assist with needs of the elderly, people with a disability and their carers to maintain independence.
The centre brings together advanced technologies for the design, prototyping, rapid manufacturing, engineering validation and user testing.
Industry involvement
The centre engages with individuals, aged and disability service providers and advocacy groups to identify needs and opportunities. The centre welcomes partnerships with industry to achieve commercialisation of patentable products and technologies.
