Maya Modeling - Modeling an apple using polygons

These tutorials will introduce you to some of the basics of creating a 3D model using polygons as a foundation. By creating an apple, you should be able to demonstrate competencies in blocking out a basic shape, adding details by creating new divisions and by using sculpting tools, while also combining separate objects to form one overall model.

Creating the basic shape
This video looks at how to start a model, by first defining the basic shape, and adding detail from there.

Finishing off the basic shape
Building on the previous video, this one looks at creating the basic shape for the stick object to refine the apple a little bit more.

Adding more detail using the sculpt geometry tool
Now that the model has taken shape, you can use the sculpt geometry tool to easily push and pull the geometry around, making it very easy to add extra details to your model.

Detailing the stick, and modeling the leaf
This video looks at the final modeling stage of adding a little extra detail to the stick, while creating the leaf object from a simple polygon cube.

This tutorial was recorded using Autodesk Maya 2008 Unlimited Extension 1.
Some aspects of this tutorial may differ depending on the software version being used.

hey, i was following your tutorial just fine, nice and clear. but i found that wheni went to delete type history it effected the way my extrude tool works..?! im not sure what has happened, i hvae obviously gone wrong somewhere, just not sure where. it just automatically does some wierd warp when i click extrude tool
