Author: Steven Murdoch

This tutorial introduced blend shapes and how we can use them to deform an object.
In this example it looks at creating a blinking eyelid.

First off, just wanted to say that I love the site and the tutorials.
I'm a beginner to Maya and your site has helped me immensely.

Anyway, here's my problem:

After reviewing the "Blend Shapes" tutorial I've been unable to perform the function using simple polygon spheres. After several attempts, I then chose a simple cartoon character mesh I had on file to test with and the Blend effect worked. (!?)

Obviously there's something I'm missing here in my understanding, please advise, any advice would be appreciated,

Many thanks,

David

I bumped into the same problem as David did. What I ended up doing was recreating the two spheres which caused my error ("No deformable objects"), and tweaked them around a bit (just moved some vertices) until it worked. Don't ask me why it worked. And I've had no luck finding a solution to the error yet, so I would be extremely grateful for one.

Nonetheless, a powerful tool - thanks for teaching us how to use it!

May be this will help.
1. Keep the polycount same for all the shapes.
2. avoid freeze transformation.
