Our Research
The Faculty of Design at Swinburne has been the national leader in tertiary design education since the early 1960s and its involvement in vocational training in art and design extends back to 1908. The Faculty is unique in Australia in offering degrees in design alone. Research degrees include the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and the Master of Design by Research (MDes). Research programs allow designers to extend their practical and theoretical knowledge of design through investigation into real world design activity, conducted through design practice and project work.
