Simone is Head of Swinburne Design Factory, a pioneering, university-based applied design research centre for graduate students at honours and masters level.  Established over 25 years ago, Design Factory's management team of experienced designers and design researchers mentor students through industry projects, with real clients, budgets, pressures of delivery deadlines and technical issues relating to implementation and production requirements.

Simone has worked as a graphic designer and design manager for over fifteen years, undertaking many high public profile branding and information design projects. This experience includes seven years as design manager for the City of Melbourne, overseeing the council’s communication and branding program. Simone has also managed major branding projects for the leading Melbourne design consultancy Flett Henderson Arnold (now Futurebrand), being involved in design work for the Sydney Olympic branding program, BHP Biliton, the ANZ bank and the State Government among many other high profile corporate and public clients.

Simone has a Diploma of Graphic Design from Swinburne 1988 and a Master of Arts (Design) from RMIT 1999 focusing on interface design. Simone is currently enrolled in a PhD at Swinburne in the Faculty of Design. The research addresses the impact of participatory design on the communication design process in respect to public information campaigns.
