James lectures in Film, Television, and Multimedia Design. He is also a PhD candidate at Swinburne and his current research investigates material forms of digital cinema.
James has a strong exhibition and screening history spanning film festivals, galleries, museums, and live theatre contexts, both nationally and internationally. His exhibition work includes projects for the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) in Melbourne, The Melbourne Museum, The Australian Centre for Photography (ACP) in Sydney, at the Goethe Institute in Berlin, the Australian Embassy in Tokyo, the Siam Discovery Centre in Bangkok, at Leicester Square in London, and at the Malthouse Theatre for the Melbourne International Festival of the Arts (MIFA).
