Dr Simon Jackson is the Leader for the Strategic Design Research Cluster and a Senior Lecturer, teaching Design History and Design Theory classes.

His research interests include the use of design history to inform new, and sustainable, product development. He has termed this 'Applied Design Heritage', which refers to how the history and heritage of an area is drawn upon to inspire new product design. Simon is currently researching the history of design education in Australia.

Simon has contributed to many publications relating to Design History, his recent articles appear in Design Issues, Journal of Design History and Journal of Design Research.

Simon is currently supervising research exploring the idea of social inclusion by styling and developing better products.
