Dr Denise Whitehouse is Senior Lecturer, Design, Society and Culture, and a member of the Design History and Theory Research Cluster. A design historian and educator she is actively engaged in building a critical discourse about the history of Australian design as a practice and mode of cultural production, through publication, public lectures, forums and criticism.

Denise is well published in academic and professional journals, contributing regularly for Curve magazine, and has a public profile as a forum facilitator and design commentator. Denise has also been instrumental in developing award winning design history programs.
She is the Chief Investigator in the ARC linkage project “The School: designing a dynamic venue for the new knowledge environment” (2008-2010). This project investigates the design of innovative, 21st century school, learning environments and pedagogical change. See:
