Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Psychophysiology) 2005 (Honours). Swinburne University of Technology.
Dr Clementine Thurgood is a Post Doctoral Research Fellow and member of the Neuroaffective Design Research group. She recently completed her PhD at the Faculty of Design where she worked on the development of a light-emitting diode tachistoscope to investigate the mere exposure effect. This innovative technology opens up new opportunities for research into the limits of human visual perception.
Clementine's research interests are in the fields of psychology and psychophysiology, visual perception, aesthetics, and cognitive and emotional response to designed objects.
Clementine has been at Swinburne since her undergraduate degree a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Psychophysiology), which fostered her interest in the visual perception domain. Her Honours Thesis looked at the effects of Serotonin versus catecholamine depletion on emotional processing.
Clementine is now supervising research students in similar study areas, such as emotional responses to real world stimuli and the speed in which people make cognitive and emotional judgements.
