Study Tours organised by the Faculty of Design provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to enrich their education through exposure to new cultures and approaches to the communication, design or film and television discipline. Students also find it a great way to build international networks.
Typical study tours last approximately 3 weeks and consist of 10 to 15 students. They are conducted during Swinburne Summer and Winter breaks.

The Vietnam Study Tour provides a cultural window to Vietnam, the former heart of Indochina, where some of the worlds most interesting processes of architectural/design changes and urban re-newal are taking place. Germany/Switzerland 2013 -

The tour starts in one of the most culturally exciting and stimulating cities in Europe, Berlin, where you will participate in a project at our partner institution KH-Berlin. The tour will move on to Frankfurt for the Euromold World Fair, where you will get the opportunity to see the latest materials and manufacturing techniques used globally. Across the German Swiss border, the tour will visit the Vitra Design Museum, a prominent piece of modern architecture designed by Frank Gehry. The final stage of the tour will be a trip from Zurich to Engelberg via Luzern, where the breath-taking journey to Mt. Titlis begins. You will see the spectacular sights of the glacier's deep crevasses and gigantic ice boulders from the warmth of a revolving cable car which climbs to the top of the mountain at 3020m. A truly amazing view of the Swiss Alps to finish this exciting Study Tour!

China/Finland Design Factory Study Tour

Two countries, two continents: Shanghai and Helsinki
The Swinburne Design Factory 2013 Study Tour will be a cultural indulgence, taking full advantage of our Global Design Factory Network. Students will experience contrasting cultures, and spend time working on an industry project at Aalto-Tongji Design Factory, Shanghai and Aalto Design Factory, Helsinki. The industry project will research and then put forward ideas for business card apps, appropriate for Asian and Northern European cultures.

Pune (India) International Film Festival - Applications now open!
Study Tour dates: 5 January - 25 January 2014
The Indian film industry is the largest in the world with an estimated viewership of 3 billion a year. Bollywood, as the Hindi film industry popularly known, is the largest contributor to the industry’s revenue. You will attend the Pune International, attend the opening night and visit Whistling Woods International Film and Media School. Travel to Hyderabad where you will visit the Ramoji Film City and the Annapurna Film School. Further information including cost and application details please attend an information session:
