The National Institute of Design, or Faculty of Design has a number of international study programs that enhance the overall education experience for both Australian and international students. Internationalisation is one of the key drivers of Swinburne University and continues to play a key factor in the development of our curriculum, teaching and research. Approximately 30% of our faculty student population are international students and come from over 35 countries.
The Faculty has over twenty active exchange agreements with universities/colleges in all parts of the world. These exchange agreements provide wonderful opportunities for our students to experience one or two semesters in another country.
Study Tours also provide the opportunity to experience a different country within a more intensive mode of study. We also provide study tours for students or groups who wish to come to Australia.
Lastly we have transnational programs or offshore programs. These Swinburne programs have been established in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Sydney through strong partnerships with other colleges/Universities. The programs provide an alternative location to complete some of our Bachelor programs.
Swinburne is the only Australian university invited to be a member of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU) , which aims to foster student and staff mobility and share innovative programs to give students a competitive edge in today’s global employment market.
The Faculty of Design is also a proud member of the CUMULUS network, the International association of Universities and Colleges in Art, Design and Media.
