Online Enquiry Form
As an employer in the Industry Placement program, you will be obliged to ensure that your selected student is given a meaningful and productive work experience and supervision in their chosen area of Design or Film and Television.
Contract
On selection, you will be required to send a formal letter of appointment to the successful student. The letter should contain the terms and conditions of the placement together with the specific terms and conditions relevant to the position, including the salary details. The letter should also state the name of your chosen industry supervisor, the company’s contact details, and any pro-rata entitlements (Industry Placement positions are not classified as casual employment) that you are normally required to undertake when employed.
Wages
The student is paid award wages which may differ according to the nature of the employment and the workplace depending on the certified agreement. The student will become a company employee and is paid via the organisation’s normal payroll system. For further information on award wages please contact wageline on 1300 363 264 or visit www.wagenet.gov.au. Any placement is to conform to regulated workplace employment.
Site Visits
During the placement period the student is mentored and supported by the Faculty of Design Industry Placement Office and the Industry Placement Academic Mentor as well as your assigned Workplace Supervisor. You will be required to meet with the Academic Mentor and the student at your place of employment at least once each six months.
Evaluation
At the end of the placement the Industry Supervisor and the Student are asked to evaluate the placement and provide a record of their learning development through a reflective journal. We also ask that the Industry Supervisor assist the student in selecting work to be showcased at the annual Industry Placement Exhibition.
Returning to Study
We encourage employers to support the Industry Placement program by facilitating the students return to University to complete their Honours year.
By participating as a partner in our Industry Placement program you play an influential role in helping to develop great future designers or filmmakers while bringing a productive and rewarding experience to your business.
